Experts from the China Shipbuilding Industry Association are very concerned about the current trend of soaring steel prices. He stated that since August last year, steel prices have skyrocketed by 26% due to the rise in iron ore prices, leading to a sharp increase in shipbuilding costs. According to last year's demand for steel in China's shipbuilding industry of 10 million tons and an average price increase of 1000 yuan per ton, the cost of the shipbuilding industry will increase by 10 billion yuan, resulting in almost all shipping companies losing money. It is reported that this type of industrial loss has occurred in January to February of this year. According to statistics from the China Shipbuilding Association, 75 key monitoring shipping companies in China achieved main business income of 35.1 billion yuan from January to February this year, a year-on-year increase of 66.4%. However, Affected by the rapid rise in prices of raw materials such as shipbuilding steel, key monitoring shipping companies have seen negative profits despite revenue growth, resulting in a loss of 340 million yuan.
